Ok guys, here I have a recipe for the perfect Sunday pastry ! I made it last Sunday and oh my god... if it isn't the best thing I've ever tasted !!!
You have to try it, I promise you, you wont be disappointed !

I got the recipe here from Joy the baker (my favorite food blog!)

The dough wasn't really beautiful at first like you can see, it was sticky and ugly, but that's just the way it should be because after two hours of rising it had doubled it's size and was super soft!

Ok I know my photos kind of suck but thats just because of my crappy camera. I have to get a new one ! But the bread looked as delicious as Joy the bakers bread though this photo doesn't really make it look so good.

DIY: Feather necklace

I've wanted a feather necklace for a while now and have been browsing for one the last few weeks. It hasn't been easy to find one that I like here in Iceland so I decided to make my own :)

Here is a tutorial of how I did it.

All you need:

40-45 cm long metal chain

16 feathers

A lobster clasp

8 cord clasps

Two pliers

10 split rings (I used 8mm hardened)

Glue

Open two split rings with the pliers

Put one on each end of the metal chain

Before you close one of them, hang the lobster clasp on it

Then find the center of the chain. Put a cord clasp on a split ring and hang it on the chain

Glue the ends of two feathers in the cord clasp and close it with a plier

Repeat that until you've got what you like (I put 8)

And there you've got it, in thirty minutes or so, a homemade feather necklace!

Elite Model Look is a modelling contest held by Elite Model Management. Girls from all over the world that have won national contests in their countries compete. Models like Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Seymour, Naomi Campbell and Gisele Bundchen were discovered in Elite Model Look, that shows that this contest gives young girls from all over the world great opportunities.

The national final winner in Iceland is Magdalena Sara Leifsdóttir and she is actually a great friend of mine. I have so much faith in her and I'm sure she is going to do so good in the contest. Big and chunky jewelry

My latest obsession are big chunky necklaces. I've been browsing for them on the internet and they seem to be everywhere. But in Iceland it's kind of hard to find so now I'm praying i will find some soon or go for a shopping holiday in Denmark or London or something :)

I think I've got a new favorite designer... Elie Saab. I have to say that this show was my favorite from Paris Fashion Week, especially the long flowing dresses. The colors and the textures are so beautiful. I don't really have a word for this collection, the only thing that comes up to my mind is beautiful multiplied with 1000.

DIY - Turban headband

Now I'm going to teach you how to make a turban headband in no time.

All you need is some stretchy fabric, scissors, a sewing machine or a needle and a thread.

Here is a photo you can look at while reading the instructions below:

Choose a fabric you like and cut it into two about 50 x 8 cm large strips. Lets call them A and B.
Lay strip A across strip B like the photo shows.
Fold strip B around strip A so that it makes kind of a T.
Then do the same with strip A, fold it around strip B so that you get kind of an L.
Now put your left hand on strips B and right hand on strips A and pull them away from each other so that you get a long line with a loop in the centre.
Lay strips A over strips B and sew the ends together.
Turn it around and voila, you've got a turban headband in just few minutes !

Reykjavik Runway

Reykjavik Runway was held for the first time last thursday. It is a fashion designer competition where the winner gets to go to New York fashion week. The designers who competed were Rosa-Bryndis, Eyglo, Harpa Einarsdóttir (Ziska) and Sólveig & Edda (Shadow Creatures). The winner was Harpa Einarsdóttir, designing as Ziska. Congratulations!

I've been looking for shoes for school this winter and just can't seem to find any. I've been checking online what stores have nice shoes and I have to say that I think Monki has the best! (too bad Monki isn't in Berlin since I'm going there next week). So if you have a Monki store near you I really recommend you go there if you need new shoes for the winter!

Delicious Oatmeal Cookies

I have one habit and I don't know if it's good or bad...
Every time I bake something it always seems to be something unhealthy, of course its good but it's not good when I think what I will look like when I get 40..
So I decided to make a change and start baking healthier food!
I found a recipe of oatmeal cookies online but changed it quite a lot so it would be healthier and I was very very happy with the result: Delicious healthier oatmeal cookies!

Recipe:

225 g butter

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup raw cane sugar

1/4 cup agave syrup

2 eggs

2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

1 3/4 cups flour

3/4 teaspoon baking powder

3/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1 cup raisins

3 1/2 cup oats

1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1. Beat butter, brown sugar, cane sugar, agave syrup, eggs and vanilla together in a mixing bowl.

2. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg and mix together.

3. Blend raisins, oats, hazelnuts and sunflower seeds into the dough.

4. Bake for 8-10 minutes in 180°C hot oven. They might not look baked but they are, just let them cool for about 10 minutes and then they are ready to eat :)

Mmmmm... so delicious, I recommend eating one with a glass of milk while it's still hot from the oven ;)

Cupcake maniac - Apple and cinnamon

Last week my sister moved back home after living in Bucharest, Romania for six months as an exchange student studying arts. So I, the kind little sister decided to be nice and bake for her :) I went a little crazy in the kitchen and baked five sorts of cupcakes and two of cookies. On the next few weeks I will be teaching you these recipes, I don't want to throw them all at you at once, but they are all kind of similar.

I decided to start with showing you the ugliest one, but I have to say the best one:
Apple and cinnamon cupcakes!

Recipe:

Beat 2 eggs and 2 dl sugar in a mixing bowl.
Add 120 g of soft butter and mix it together.
Then add 1 dl milk, 3 dl wheat, 1.5 tablespoon baking powder, 1.5 tablespoon cinnamon, and 1 dl of finely torn marzipan (that's my little secret to make them super soft) and mix it.
Finally add half an apple cut in small pieces.
Put the dough in cupcake liners in a cupcake pan (that will make them bigger) and put one small piece of an apple on top and some cinnamon sugar.
Bake in a 190°C hot oven for 20-25 minutes

There you've got it, 'Apple and Cinnamon Cupcakes'

Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau is a 10 year french model who clearly knows what she is doing and is good at it! She is so so so pretty, has beautiful eyes, long hair, perfect lips, she's just perfect and her confidence shines through in all her photos. She looks more confident and gives more attitude in her photos than most "normal aged" models i've seen.

We all know that girl is gonna do some big things in the future, she's already become super famous only ten years old, how will it be when she's fifteen or twenty!

DIY - Marzipan roses

Here is a super simple DIY on super cute marzipan roses :)
The only thing you need is marzipan and a knife.

Take a small piece of marzipan and roll between your palms until you've got a nice ball like this one. Then flatten it out using your fingers and cut it in half. Make four of these.

Start with rolling one half up and then wrap the others around it like you can see on the photos.

And voila ! You've got a nice little flower :)

On sunday it was one of these days, the sun was shining and I needed something to cool me down. This yoghurt-berry-dream was the result :)

Recipe:

400g mixed berries (I used frozen strawberries, raspberries and blueberries)

The juice from one orange.

Blend about 300g of the berries and the orange juice together in a blender until smooth, then mix the 100g that were left of the berries into the sauce carefully.

Blend half of the sauce and about 1,5 dl of strawberry yoghurt into lightly whipped cream. (I whipped 1 or 2 dl of cream)

Put the yoghurt blend and the fruit sauce into glasses you like and serve :)

Or you can make little lollipop ice-creams by putting it in the freezer!

Colorful cupcakes

I made these colorful cupcakes for a "welcome home party" for my friend who lives in Italy.
I personally LOVE cupcakes. They are so fun to bake, beautiful to look at and so good to eat! It is so much fun to give other people homemade cupcakes, it just seems to make everyone so happy.
This recipe is the best I've found and it isn't even that complicated.
The best part about this recipe is that it's just clean, you can add everything you want to it, I will show you some variations later..

The recipe:

2 eggs

2 dl sugar

125 g soft butter

1 dl milk

3 dl wheat

1,5 teaspoon baking powder

Beat eggs and sugar together.

Mix butter, then milk and eventually wheat and baking powder into the eggs and sugar.

Mix the wheat and the baking powder carefully into the eggs, sugar, butter and milk so the cupcakes won't get stiff.

Bake in 190°C hot oven for 20-25 minutes.

Makes 12 big cupcakes.

I used green and red food coloring, you can use any color you like.

I piped in the small cupcake molds using an piping bag.

I used an ice cream scoop to put the dough in the big molds.

Big cupcakes

I piped white buttercream on them and decorated with silverballs.

Vanilla buttercream:

125 g soft butter

500 g powdered sugar

1/2 dl milk

Vanilla

Beat butter in a mixer, then gradually add the sugar milk and vanilla and beat for a while.

Taste and decide if you think it is ready.

Pipe it on the cupcakes using a plastic piping bag.

Me and my friend took these cute photos yesterday, actually in my garden, nothing complicated..
We have been wanting to do this for a long time and decided to do it yesterday. We braided a crown from grass and some flowers and I think it worked really well.
